FAQs

Frequently asked questions:

What's your process/methodology?

1. Discovery: NDA and align on your priorities: AI, cost savings, data sovereignty, or resilience.
2. DMAT Assessment: Non-intrusive, readonly infrastructure review. Typically 3 days.
3. Compatibility Report: Compatibility matrix across Oracle and SQL Server, with changes and effort required.
4. Business Case: TCO/ROI model and executive report quantifying your savings and return.
5. Proof of Concept: PoC on ~10% of your environment. Hyperscaler funding often available for cloud deployments.
6. Build & Test: Test, dev, and staging environments set up with fallback safeguards.
7. Migration: Cutover, handover, and full documentation.
8: AI-Managed Support (optional): Ongoing management of your new environment via our AI DBA platform.

Why Is PostgreSQL Better for AI?

Modern AI workloads demand high CPU efficiency and flexible data handling. Oracle SE2 caps threads at 16, forcing costly upgrades as cores scale — PostgreSQL remains free regardless of hardware. In 50M-embedding benchmarks, PostgreSQL with pgvector delivered 11.4x higher throughput, while pgvectorscale achieved 28x lower latency. In JSON-heavy RAG workloads, PostgreSQL-based AI platforms have shown performance up to 150x faster than MongoDB, significantly outperforming proprietary alternatives.

Why is PostgreSQL the fastest-growing enterprise database?

PostgreSQL has ranked as the most popular and fastest-growing relational database in multiple industry surveys, including Stack Overflow. Its growth is driven by open-source licensing (zero vendor lock-in), enterprise-grade performance, PostgreSQL is AI-ready due to native JSON support and vector extensions like pgvector, enabling scalable embeddings, semantic search and real-time generative AI workloads directly within the database. This combination of cost efficiency, flexibility and scalability has accelerated adoption across governments and Fortune 500 enterprises.

Is PostgreSQL secure and trusted by Governments and Enterprise?

Yes. Surveys show 91% of organisations using PostgreSQL require enterprise uptime (99.99%+), and many deploy it for core, 24/7 systems. PostgreSQL is used by 39,000+ verified companies worldwide and runs in production at major organisations including Microsoft analytics, Apple, Instagram, Spotify, Bloomberg and OpenAI, and is widely adopted for enterprise workloads. PostgreSQL is used in government and high-security environments, including NASA, the US Census Bureau, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the UK Met Office, alongside major enterprises such as Microsoft and Bloomberg. It provides enterprise-grade security including role-based access control, SSL/TLS encryption, strong authentication (SCRAM, Kerberos), auditing extensions, and full ACID compliance. Its open-source transparency allows independent security review, making it suitable for regulated, mission-critical and public-sector systems where integrity and resilience are paramount.
